          The converter furnace for smelting mixed scrap copper is a critical piece of equipment in the copper recycling process, utilized for the high-temperature smelting and recovery of mixed copper scrap to facilitate the purification and reuse of copper resources. Characterized by its complex structure, the furnace primarily comprises the furnace body, trunnion supports, a drive and braking system, a furnace hood, a combustion and refining system (including oxidation and reduction valve groups), a refractory lining, and an integrated electrical-hydraulic automation control system.

          Copper Converter

          The converter supports two operational modes—via a local control cabinet or a remote controller—and executes two core functions: First, the rotation (forward and reverse) and stopping of the furnace body, driven by a geared motor acting upon a large girth gear; this mechanism is equipped with a variable frequency drive (VFD) to ensure stepless speed regulation, smooth starting and stopping, and reliable braking. Second, the opening and closing of the furnace door, actuated by hydraulic cylinders powered by a hydraulic station; this operation is smooth, highly responsive, and capable of reliable stopping at any intermediate position, thereby facilitating the three key processes of charging, slag skimming, and casting.

          Furthermore, the electrical and hydraulic automation control system seamlessly integrates the movements of the furnace body and door with the combustion/refining operations and furnace hood movements, achieving fully automated, interlocked control across the entire process. This allows operators to flexibly switch between close-range, fine-tuning adjustments and safe, long-distance remote control operations. By virtue of its rational structural design and reliable control system, this converter achieves highly efficient, safe, and controllable operation, standing as a vital piece of equipment in the modern cycle of copper resource utilization.
